How we verify
Is this real? Every item should answer that before anything else.
Source tiers
- Tier 1, primary record: FDA, DOJ, and court documents; attributable company statements and company-controlled pages.
- Tier 2, reliable press: named outlets reporting on primary records or with direct sourcing.
- Tier 3, social and community: posts, forums, and tips. Used as chatter, labeled as such, never as proof.
Observed changes
When we say a storefront or product page was offline or changed, we record the time we looked, capture a screenshot, and save an archived copy where possible. Each vendor page shows when it was last checked.
Tips
Submitted tips are leads, not findings. A tip becomes a story only when we can attach a public document, a captured observation, or an attributable statement. Anonymous claims of a raid, contamination, scam, crime, or regulatory action are not published against a named target without that.
Chatter
Community discussion is published only under the Chatter label and is kept separate from confirmed reporting. A launch rumor is presented as a teaser or chatter item, not as an actual launch.
Company responses
Responses are published separately, unedited, and timestamped. If a company has not responded, we say none was located as of the publish date, not that it declined.
When we get it wrong
Every story and vendor page carries a correction log. See Corrections or request one.
