What we collect
- There are no user accounts.
- The site does not run analytics or advertising trackers.
- The tip, correction, and contact forms send what you type to us by email through a transactional email service. Name and email on the tip form are optional.
- The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, pages requested and browser type) for operating and securing the service.
- The live feed is fetched through a proxy run on Cloudflare so third-party feeds can be read in your browser. The proxy receives the feed address your browser requests and, as a normal part of any web request, your IP address.
- Some feed items link through a search engine redirect (for example bing.com) before reaching the publisher, and if a feed item includes an image your browser loads it directly from the publisher. Those sites see your IP address and apply their own privacy policies.
- The site keeps a short-lived copy of feed headlines in your browser's session storage so pages load faster. It contains no personal information and clears when you close the tab.
- Messages sent through the forms are used to respond to you and to check the facts in a tip. We do not sell them.
- Newsletter signup is not live yet; no email address entered there is stored.
Accuracy, sources and liability
- This site compiles and summarizes public records, reporting by other outlets, our own observations of public web pages, and tips. We do our best to be accurate, but errors, omissions and out-of-date information are possible. Some items are reposted or summarized from third parties we do not control.
- Allegations in government documents and in reports by others are theirs, not findings by us. Appearing on this site is not an accusation, and it does not mean a company or person did something wrong.
- Check the linked primary source before relying on anything here. Nothing on this site is medical, legal, financial or purchasing advice.
- To report an error, use Request a correction.
- The full terms, including warranty and liability limits, are in the Disclaimer and terms of use.
