What should you do if an injectable GLP-1 medication arrives warm?
Short answer · as of 2026-10-06
FDA recommends that patients not use any injectable GLP-1 drug that arrives warm or with insufficient refrigeration, because that can affect its quality. For storage questions about a compounded product, FDA says to contact the compounder or telehealth platform. For an approved product, the label sets the limits on time out of the refrigerator. We did not find manufacturer guidance on warm deliveries.

What FDA says
In its statement on unapproved GLP-1 drugs used for weight loss, FDA recommends that patients not use any injectable GLP-1 drug that arrives warm or with insufficient refrigeration, saying this can affect quality. The same page says to contact the compounder or telehealth platform with questions about instructions or label information, and to discard multi-dose vials 28 days after first use even if the compounder says longer.
Approved products and their labels
Approved products have labels that give limits on time out of the refrigerator and temperature, covered on our label-storage page. Whether a delivery stayed within those limits is something the dispensing pharmacy can speak to. We found no FDA or manufacturer page that tells patients how to judge a shipment themselves.
What we cannot say
- We did not find a manufacturer statement on warm deliveries, so we do not give one.
- Appearance does not establish quality. A vial can look normal and still have been stored improperly, and we did not find an FDA page saying otherwise.
- FDA's page is about injectable GLP-1 drugs. It does not address other peptides.
